Easter is a special time of year signaling new beginnings, rejuvenation, and the first joyful signs of Spring. As we celebrate the occasion with light-hearted gifts and fun-filled activities, let's also reflect on how and where those cute chocolate bunnies and Easter eggs were made. Like everything we buy, even the fluffiest toys and the most decadent chocolates involve a long chain of people across the globe. Beautiful packaging, unfortunately, too often masks the darker truth about the things we purchase. That pretty pastel wrapper never mentions the two million children working on cocoa plantations harvesting the raw product in our chocolate bunnies.
But, fear not! This post is not all about what's wrong in the world. In fact, we're eager to share a few of our favorite ethical businesses with you – ones that prove that we really can make the world a better place even through our Easter baskets. And to top it off, we've compiled a basket of fair trade goodies that we're giving away to kickstart Spring!!

We've included Oliver Kita's fair trade, organic chocolate in our basket but the list of fair trade confectioners is extensive. Hop on over [pun intended] to companies like Divine Chocolate, Alter Eco Foods, Sweet Riot and Equal Exchange to satisfy your cravings throughout the year. Ethical businesses like these have expanded into your local grocery chains, so they won't be hard to find! These amazing companies all ensure their cocoa farmers receive fair wages and safe working conditions with no child labor.
Our giveaway basket features Oliver Kita's exquisite hand-painted fair trade Easter eggs and an adorable chocolate rabbit. Look no further for proof that the holidays can be filled with beautiful items with a positive global impact!

From Easter baskets to fluffy bunnies and quilled eggs, ethical choices abound! Our giveaway includes a hand-woven sisal basket from friends at Acacia Creations. They work tirelessly to provide beautifully unique products for their customers while ensuring high quality and empowered jobs for their artisan partners. But we also can't get enough of the impressive Easter collections offered by fellow fair traders like Serrv and Fair Trade Winds .

And though we all love a precious floppy eared bunny or a few speckled eggs, sometimes a little something soft and new can be just as special. The last piece of our Easter basket is a lovely hand spun and woven hand towel from our very own artisans in Ethiopia! We're excited to be able to include this beautiful piece in the spring giveaway.
